Senior Accountant

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll work with colleagues to keep that system running smoothly and will help shape the future of our financial processes.

What will you do as a Senior Accountant at o2o?

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll take on the role of accounting expert within the finance team. You will report to the Finance Manager and work closely with your colleagues in accounting and controlling.

Your responsibilities

• You’ll take the lead on the month-end closing. Together with your colleagues, you’ll compile all data, verify that the figures are complete and ensure that the close is completed correctly and on time.

• You will monitor the quality of accounting in accordance with BE GAAP. You will perform checks, identify discrepancies and ensure that entries are logical, correct and consistent.

• You will have final responsibility for VAT returns and other legal obligations. When legislation changes, you’ll keep track of relevant changes and translate them into the appropriate course of action.

• You’ll proactively manage statutory obligations: year-end closing, financial statements, minutes and everything else involved.

• You will be the point of contact for auditors and other stakeholders with regard to all matters accounting. You provide reassurance, clarity, and a well-reasoned response whenever anyone delves into the numbers.

• You will actively contribute ideas about how to make finance processes smarter, more efficient and more reliable.

• You will share your accounting expertise with colleagues. Not by throwing around jargon, but by explaining complex concepts clearly. This will help the entire team grow together.

• You will assist the Finance Manager and the finance team with ad hoc projects or whenever colleagues need help.

What we’re looking for in you

You don’t need to have seen it all yet, but you do already have a solid foundation in accounting and enough maturity to work independently on your deliverables.

• You must have at least 5 years of experience in finance.

• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

• You get a kick out of month-end closings, VAT returns, and year-end closings. Or at least a sense of satisfaction when everything adds up ;-).

• BE GAAP holds few secrets from you. You stay on top of relevant legislative changes and understand what they mean for accounting.

• You work accurately, in a structured manner and with a focus on solutions. If you spot an error or a risk, you raise the alarm and help come up with potential solutions.

• You communicate fluently with internal and external stakeholders. Whether you’re talking to auditors, finance colleagues or o2o team members from other teams, you can explain the subject matter clearly.

• You’re highly proficient in Excel. Experience with Odoo or Exact Online will be a plus.

• You’re fluent in Dutch and English. French will be a plus.
